Forks are off, the oil that came out was nice and clean until you go to the dregs in the bottom, looked piss thin though, I'm going to stick some 15w back in and may even add an additional spacer to add a bit more preload to the spring prior to any adjustment. It'll off-set the fact that the adjusters on the rear are now inverted which raises the rear a gnats which would add more weight to the front. The forks were very soft before, I had a little bounce test prior to removing, far too soft to be any use. I have some old Bandit spacers that I had cut down into three different lengths when I was setting up my zook, I'll see what I've got left to use. I wanted to let them drain over night, so had to be whipped off now, not going to do the seals they're still good and clean.

The one I always wanted was the 1000RX. Not as quick but a real snub nose brute of a bike. I have had a couple of RX's, both would see north of 165mph (indicated) which is real good for an 80's bike on soggy suspension with shit brakes they were great for hunting sport bikes at the time & comfy enough to bang some miles in if that's your thing
I would have another RX in a heartbeat, with sorted running gear it would still be capable of surprising a few power rangers
I used to have an rx...even took it round brands hatch and it was a bloody hoot. Stuck it on a dyno after having a carb overhaul, registered 119bhp at the wheel which surprised me:-)

I bought my B-King before there was even one in the country. I knew from riding Busa's what it would do. When I first saw one I though.. "FARK! That's ugly!..... where do I sign?"

I couldn't do it, I have to feel good about what in riding. Yeah, we all have different ideals. No bad thing. Keeps life interesting. If the next Busa had 20hp more and 20kg less I'd buy one unseen !

Katana was more like the B-King. A styling exercise that was a love / hate look. The Hayabusa was a little different. Busa's look the way they do because they work well. We ran Busa's and ZX12's on the dyno back to back. ZX's made more ponys but Busa's always pulled away top end at the high speed events.
I've seen a ZX12R rebuilt with Busa bodywork to try and get more top end.
I can't think of any other bike that's hitting over 250mph in land speed events running stock 1999 bodywork.
Ugly is personal taste. Performance is fact. The Busa is something Suzuki really did get right.

I think I've posted this before, but it shows how good an 18 year old design is. Making big horsepower is one thing, pushing it through the air at over 250mph with 18 year old bodywork is another. Still the benchmark for street bike aerodynamics. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOWhtVuccMI

" Obviously when your on the bike you can't see it so looks don't seem as important however, I honestly believe that riding a bike is as much about looks as it is the riding :-)

I took a test ride on an early Busa once...apart from being cramped (for me) it was unremarkable, until I noticed to speedo....let's just say, I've not been quicker on any other bike now my life

I agree, I like to enjoy the look of the bike when I whip off the cover in the morning.
Plus, with older bike like Q Mans ZZR you will get that lovely old oily whiff when you fire them up.
Reminds me when I first brought the ZRX home. Wife says "It's so loud and it stinks"
Ole.
