Ahh the joys of owning old bikes, most of which have been subjected to the worst in "home maintenance" care and attention we could all do without. You obviously need to buy yourself another tool mate, it's how it works. Need job doing, get another tool to do it. P.s I've Packed it, booked it, and hope to drop it off tomorrow.

Need a bit of heat on it, not too much to discolour the ally, just enough to swell the local area then beat the shit out of it. A heat gun is better than a blow lamp as it's more controllable. Been using mine for the very same reason yesterday, I removed and fitted a full set of suspension bearings didn't I.

I have a paint stripping gun. Failing that its one of kens methods of either to chisel a groove/cut or cut with a hacksaw blade to release the pressure so it should come out.

I'm a ham fisted twat if in doubt twat it I say make a nice sharp chiesel from a Allen key and cut the bearing shell out , a good tip also with roller bearings if you don't have a press is smash the inside out then mig weld around the outer bearing race and they pop out due to the contraction.

Heat hasn't worked, tried the chisel thing it seems to be making it worse. I've got to get a new hacksaw blade later. That's the last resort before it has to go to an engineers to get cut out as that's all I can think off that could remove them. As for the ones in the cushion, well I apparently have to make a puller with a threaded bar a couple of sockets on two nuts.

I'm thinking the bearings are the original ones and they've welded themselves to the inside. It's such a thin housing yet its immensely strong
