set about it last night (gnarf gnarf) got the engine almost out, only snapped one of the four exhaust studs! but it shouldnt be a problem as it is sticking out from the head and will be easy to get a grip of. main job to the engine is the replacement of the foot peg hanger bracket, it bolts to the bottom crankcase of the engine, it also should have the side stand bracket welded to it. somewhere along the way in its history it has hit something with the side stand and removed it along with the bracket!!! i had thought that the bracket had taken one of the mounting bolts with it when it went, and must have pulled the threads out too, but on closer inspection the threads are un damaged, so i can just bolt the new bracket in place without the need to do a thread repair. bolt must have fallen out before the impact, result. I will remove the engine tonight, make an attempt on the stud and see where i can go from there.
