Air cooled bikes in slow traffic, do they overheat?

Hi,

 I thought about it and decided it's more of an experience question than a mechanic question.



I know an air cooled engine is going to get hot when there's no airflow but when it gets hot does it just radiate more heat or does it get too hot and break?



I'm thinking of summer riding through the smoke on an air cooled 600cc thumper.
any suggestions..?
