Hi, I have a '96 HDJ81 with the A442F trans, when towing and loaded heavily up hills the oil temp light comes on from time to time.. This is a Jap Spec model where there is no aux cooler and the trans oil only flows through the radiator. What I am looking to do is bypass the radiator which I'm assuming is to bring the oil temps up to temp in colder climates and run the oil through an auxiliary cooler that I want to fit. The ambient temperatures where I live never get below 60deg and go up as high as 105 degrees at times. The problem is that my truck has a front mounted inter cooler so my space up front is limited. The biggest cooler I can fit is approx 4.5"x9.5"x1.5", would I be wasting my time fitting a smallish cooler like this or would it still be a worthwhile exercise? Even with this size cooler I still have to trim the rear of the grill to make it fit which isn't too much of an issue but I don't want to do all of this for nothing and even possibly exacerbate the problem.. I don't have have a transmission oil temp gauge fitted but I'd really like some opinion if I'm on the right track.. Please help. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
