The problem we have in the UK ( as I see it) is we race "road bikes", we have no classes for present day, real race machinery. Admittedly there are a few people such as Fab Racing who run Metrakit type classes for real youngsters but when they progress there is nowhere for them to go other than Spain and it's junior Moto3 and Moto2 championships.......... and that takes money. Couple that with our sponsorship mentality of "go away and win a few championship and I'll think about buying you a couple of tyres" and we have no clear path for talent. The ACU needs to get off it's arse and follow the Italian and Spanish examples.

That's the main problem here, for anybody to be "successful" within racing, you can bet your life they have begged borrowed and stole from whoever they could to fund their own progression. most of whom never make it but have the talent and craft to do it. I mean most of own racing never appears on the box, despite the entertaining nature of it, but because it is unlikely to draw 2million viewers it'll never get aired.
The Spaniards live and breath it, feck me it is even part of their schooling.
I was on a trackday in Cartagena when a school outing turned up complete with clipboards in hand as some sort of field trip. Now bare in mind this was only a bunch of British "try-ers" having a laugh on Spanish soil, but yet somebody still thought it of value to their kids to pay it a visit and let them breath it all in.
No doubt many of those kids will probably never even touch a bike let alone track/race one, but I also bet there were 1 or 2 creaming their pants wishing they could be doing it. Those are the Pedrosa's or Lorenzo's of this world and would be encouraged at every level including funding to do it.

I like Crutchlow actually, have always wanted him to do well, I like his attitude as he reminds me a bit of Ant West and Casey Stoner with speaking their mind etc.
Speaking of rear wheel drift... I wonder what Mr Squiggle is doing these days? Don't hear anything about Garry McCoy any more...

I like Crutchlow and his attitude and determination. If he can work out how to stick the right side of crashing for a whole race he'll be up there........ and when he's done it once. McCoy runs his own race school and works for Pirelli.
