Anyone else following the GP testing at Philip Island ? Funny, Vinales set the pace for most of the day and was only just put into 2nd place late in the day, on a SUZUKI !!! Not sure Maverick will be up there with the "Aliens" under race conditions but it shows Suzuki are making progress and moving forward. Roll on March 20th. Friday;

P.I always favours a good chassis and the Suzuki is acknowledged to handle well. McWilliams put the KR3 proton on pole but never stood a chance of winning the race because everybody go in the way and killed his corner speed.

Valid point.
Testing only tells a wall part of the story.
Similar to qualifying. Some riders, like Rossi on a good day, don't qualify highly, but more well under pressure in a pack.
Maverick putting in quick lap times is very different to race conditions. I'd be very surprised to see him on the podium even at Philip Island.
..... but if suzuki keep evolving, and get one of the Aliens on the seat.....

It's only when they return to European shores that the fun really begins, Philip Island is a great circuit just not a great circuit for the championship battle. It's a bit of a show starter rather than a results/performance advantage, tyres have always been an issue there too, which tends to make it a further lottery on who bags it.
