I would not want to be a mechanic today on anything other than my own gear. Respect for having the patience.

Shortly after sorting that problem out, the fooking starter motor packed up on her. A replacement was going to be £140 and that' me getting it out. I got the thing out and decided to strip it and have look at it to see if it was worth messing with instead. T he brushes were knackered and not easily replaced by me unless you have a seriously hot soldering iron or a spot welder. She took the field coil and the brush plate to a firm in Carlisle that refurbs them, and got them to put a new set if brushes on it.
£25 for the brush set. All rebuilt and cleaned up. Fitted it back in today too, fired up straight away, so she is once again a happy bunny, and I am in credit. Ha ha.
