My lad finally passed his driving test about two weeks ago wahoo! Chuffed to bits for him but it also means I will have some work to do on his car. I bought him an old H**da civic 2 years ago, cheap runabout which looked pretty good for its age. It needed some work but nothing beyond my capabilities, such as new discs, callipers needed a rebuild, new front drive-shafts, timing belt, couple of tyres, the usual shite for an old motor. It passed an mot a year ago but due to his test failures, it has sat there for a year doing feck all and now needs a fresh mot before he can use it. Today we stuck a new battery in it, washed it inside and out, looks well for its age again, it started first turn of the key, happy days! That was until it got up to temp' then started to idle up and down about a 1000 revs, I thought feck it, I knew leaving it there was going to cause an issue eventually. Motors need to be used don't they, not sitting for a year doing nowt. Had a quick look about on the tinternet to find a couple of ideas, 10 mins later luvly jubbly, all sorted running sweet again. Turned out to be the air intake regulator valve sticking, 10 min job, whip off, clean with brake cleaner, perfect. All we got to do now, is book it in and see what it fails on (if anything") that way we can decide wether or not it's worth fucking about with, or get something else. Kids eh!

This is partly why I have no bike work going on for the time being, I have so much stuff on my plate that isn't bike related I'm bogged down in it. Seems to be the older I get the more I have to do. I have a new back door to go on, been working in one room for a year now on and off, the house drains my resources and time constantly, it's like the fecking forth road bridge in here. I will never buy an old house ever again, it's like that old film with Tom Hanks "The Money Pit!" ha ha. My XT has ground to a halt, need to get a new stem made up to accommodate the R6 bottom yoke into the XT headstock, it'll have to wait its turn now.
