The big job for this winter is a new exhaust for Redemption. The plan is to cut the 4 into 1 collector off of the 4 "header" tubes that come from the cylinders. I'm thinking I'll need 2, 2 into 1 collectors, then sweep 1 exhaust pipe down each side.
2 questions.
1) It's an inline 4 cylinder. Which 2 cylinders go together. Cylinders 1+2, 3+4, or 1+3, 2+4, or 1+4, 2+3.
2) I've been looking at other exhaust systems. Parallel twins don't seem to have a balancing pipe. Do I need a balancing pipe?
Discussion is welcome.

That's what I thought as well. I think I'll go with that.
Thanks paddy.

The "secondaries" would be the section of pipe after the 2 to 1 collectors? And the length of the secondaries is between the collector and the muffler?
On my engine, the coils are 1 + 4, and 2 + 3.

No worries slim. The english isn't that much different, although it's probably good I can't hear your accent in the typed word, then I'd really have issues. I'm going to see if I can find some resource that'll give some incite into secondary length.

Hey slim. I've read the same thing in reference to automotive headers and exhaust systems. I just have to find something that gives me an indication of the right range or length I need for the secondary pipe length, just as you indicated.

So my primary pipes are 1 5/8 inch OD. Should the secondary pipes be 1 3/4 inch or 2 inch?
