I've been invited to a wedding. It's just over 1000k (620 miles) South. It's in 2 weeks time.
1: Wife's going to that rules out the bike.
2: Flying down and hiring a car is do-able.
3: Wife's car doesn't have enough miles on it. It's a works / business vehicle so needs mileage to justify using it as a tax deduction. So.... it looks like a 1400+ mile trip is on the cards. Might need to take the Friday off and make it a long weekend.
We went to a wedding anniversary heading North last year. That was 1240k (770 miles) each way.
I like long days on the bike, but i quite like long drives too.

Bloody hell, my sciatica kicks in after 30-40 min driving. Not all the time but that's all that really aggravates these days. Could do it in the van, not sure about on the bike? Although I have spent almost all day on it (yes riding not sat on it making noises) but ithink my wrists would hurt more.

Looks like I'm driving down to the Wedding. Looking forward to it.
One of my customers was buying quite a few new Ford Ranger pick-ups / utes from the local Ford dealer. They had a bit of a falling out over the price. Customer was told try getting one cheaper elsewhere. He found a cheap (new one) in Perth and got a cheap flight over. ( I wanted to fetch it myself )
It was a 4400k (2750 mile) drive home !!

I hope he drove back to that dealer and very smugly showed him the receipt.

Yeah, I took it in for its first service. Really wasn't worth the the time and effort to fetch it but he wanted to prove a point.
It looked pretty 2nd hand by the time he got it home, covered in red dust and bugs etc. mad bugger!

Furthest travelled. London to Newcastle by car. London to Nottingham by bike. London to New York by plane. All too long and boring

I went for a drive North when I bought my Lancer. Ended up at Daintree just past Port Douglas. It was 1,780k's, bit over 1,100 miles. Took me two days and I never even left Queensland. Didn't look far on a map !
Done a few rides and drives down to Dubbi in NSW. Went down to to a 4 hour job with work, been to have a Saturday night in the pub with mates. Dubbi is about 900k / 550 miles each way.
750k (460 miles) out with mates on Sportsbikes on a Sunday is quite normal.
