I'm a horder, a collector. I like having stuff. If I had my way I'd live in a huge warehouse stacked full of old Suzuki's.
What I try and avoid is the big consumer brain washing. The must have big TV, flash car, designer clothes, etc etc. I used to drool over new bike showrooms, now they don't interest me. where I used to finance new bikes, now I save and spend months (or years!) to find a bargain or wreck, and I'm happier doing it.
I've reached a point where down sizing looks real appealing. Kids are at Uni, I'm really over the city house and city life.
Being a grumpy hermit in the countryside suits me, as long as I get to keep my stash of parts, scrap, junk to rummage through and tinker about with as my therapy.

I still reckon he's right though Rusty, if you have a dream you gotta give it a shot! Oh i know he was right... I had a dream years ago...joining the royal navy as an aircraft engineer...got through all the selections and tests, done a 2 day fitness and taster weekend, got my travel warrant and entry date...until i was hit by a car on my way home from work one day...spent 4 months in hospital and nearly a year learning to walk properly again...end of my dream :-( Still hurts thinking back Ouch... that hurts me thinking about it! Sorry to hear it mate! Jiterbug... that sounds damn good to me!

Rusty, that is a tough deal. How long ago was that? It was about 16 years ago....certain parts of the incident i remember like it was yesterday It was classed as a hit and run because the driver, after hitting, stopped at the local corner shop to get some milk then drove home...the police had no trouble finding the driver tho as the impact ripped off the front bumper of the car including the mumber plate

Duane Funniest thing about it was when the police knocked on her door (yeah...woman driver) and asked if she had been involved in an accident, (the front of her car was in the back of the police car) which she denied..she was promplty arrested and as far as i remember, was done for dangerous driving and leaving the scene of an accident

Ok. So the shed is finally Suzuki ready. My dad come down and helped me finish up the wiring on Saturday. It's all insulated, the OSB is on the walls and ceiling, lights and a heater. Only thing left to do is figure out what I'm going to do for benches. I'm thinking I want to do something that will fold out of the way when I want more room. Keep you all posted on how that goes.

I hear ya on your life choices bud, too many folk get hung up on the " must have" "I need" "I want" feeding the ego with mindless shit that doesn't make us happier at all, it only seeks to drag us further into the merry-go-round!
Done it myself, until I lost my Mum with a phone call she was found dead in her house, took me 6 months to sort my head/life/work out, made me realise what the fuck was I doing, why was I doing it and more importantly who the hell for?
Good to hear/see you getting sorted, good luck to you.

Lovin' the space mate!
Did you see my combo compressor room door/workbench in my shed thread? Pretty simple way to go for a workbench that gets out of the way when you don't need it.

That's it exactly quazi. I'd rather make time to spend with my wife and kids and some good friends. Maybe leave this place a little better than when I got here.
petegsx, I saw your compressor door arrangement. Nicely done. My compressor is in a smaller garden shed behind this one, it's a 60 gallon big mother. I'm thinking of making an arm that bolts to the wall that has a receiver on it. So then I could interchange things like bench grinders and maybe a smaller english wheel and some other things as well. I'm still thinking this out.

Sounds good to me! My little compressor is ok and has just enough tank capacity to spray a bike without having to run the motor too much between coats, but I'd really like a belt driven one with a larger tank... it's a bit useless for sand blasting though, motor kicks in just as the sand starts to flow nicely.
