If it's going on something where the rest of any bodywork is painted, then paint it. If you still want to show it's an ali tank ? Leave some part(s) of it unpainted as part of a design.

IF you are going too ride the bike ? a polished tank my dazzle you ? as top yoke does when everything lines up sun angle bike.. errrrrr.
