What you call an MOT we call a "Roadworthy Cert".
You need one to register an unregistered bike (if its been off the road with no tax)
You need one to register a bike that's changing hands, it needs a roadworthy to
change ownership or you lose the tax/plates.
Best bit, you don't need one otherwise or every year.
B-King is over 8 years old, its never had one.
Busa is over 9 and the last owner put it through one when he sold it me.
One exception is if you let the tax run out.
A few weeks is OK, they just back date it,
but a few months and you need to get another roadworthy (MOT)
and get new number plates as the old ones are removed from the system
or listed as being unregistered.
Another good thing is if you don't want to go to a bike shop there are a few guys
who do a mobile service. My ET and Bandit were done in my shed whilst I went
and made the guy a drink.
I don't miss the UK system.
