The srad now resides in Tamworth, sold it about 2 weeks ago and went out and bought a ccm 636 supermoto, the srad used to kill my knackered right knee, wanted something more upright

All the riders I keep hearing changing for something comfy and upright makes me feel quite lucky I can ride a few hundred miles on my slabby with just stretching my legs out now and then. But then again if you hammer it the miles get eaten up quick

This is my old one...644 dualsport. It's the XF650 Suzuki Freewind engine, a bit tame to start with, but easily tunable, mine was dyno'd at 44 bhp, not bad for one of these... I absolutely loved it, it did everything. I used it for work, went trail riding with it, went round the TT course on it, rode it for hundreds of miles at a time - it was great, until... The bottom mount on the rear shocker snapped clean off, I was doing 60mph in a left hand bend at the time, it locked the rear wheel instantly, and shot me straight into the path of a milk tanker coming the other way. I managed to miss the lorry, but ended up cartwheeling through a 6 foot panel fence and into a courtyard of an old farm. The bike was quite badly damaged, and I was 70 miles from home in the Yorkshire dales. I ended up having to seat the remaining bit of the shocker on the mount where it snapped and rode home, VERY slowly, and very carefully - one handed ! I didn't know it at the time, but I'd cracked a couple of ribs, and torn ligaments in my neck, arm and shoulder. It cost me about 10 weeks off work. I swore blind I would never have another CCM after that. I tried claiming from CCM as the bike was only 10 months old at the time, and still under warranty, but they weren't interested as I'd bought the bike second hand. I got solicitors involved, and basically wasted a lot of time, and a lot of money, all for nothing. That was a long time ago now though, and I quite fancy another one day...

They take a bit of getting used to, but when you do, they are really good to ride. Just don't expect too much from it, and you'll love it.
