I don't need an imaginary friend and a book of fiction to tell me what to do, I just wonder why people can't be decent to each other the other 50 weeks of the year. WORD, well said mate

Bluedog's right of course, it has become so commercialised it's full of bullshit now and become a charade of worthless gestures for the most part. Very different though if you have kids, that opens an entirely different set of expectations. Unnecessary pressures for the parents to buy into it, in full, placing themselves into debt they can ill afford and for what? On the other hand, I withdraw myself from the majority of it and let the commercial shit storm pass on by while I enjoy my own chosen company in exactly the same way I do throughout the year, so for me nothing really changes except the blindingly bright fairy lights. ha ha. Despite the commercial raping of it all, it still holds value to those that care for its "beliefs" which you cannot deny them those pleasures, especially considering what horror goes on in this world in the name of Islam. Rejoice all that is Christian "the good bits" isn't a bad thing once a year if it lifts peoples spirits and strengthens their existence. There, that's my take on it, now who wants a mince pie?

I'd much rather celebrate the 21st. Having spent most of my life working outdoors it's a day that has some significance to me

I don't 'do' Christmas, infact, I fuckin hate it. I finish work on the 18th, and go back on the 4th, so I will avoid all the bullshit parties and stuff at work. Bare minimum of lights in our house, just whatever Jane manages to put up. Can't wait till it's all over and done with, I'm the same every year

I loved it as a kid.
Grew to hate it for its hypocrisy and commercialism for many years.
Now I love it again, purely for being off work, relaxing and indulging.
We get a day off work for the Queens birthday and another day off for "Australia Day" Im atheist but I'll celebrate any religion that gives me a day out on the bike or in the shed.

A quick question for everybody. Has anybody notice the one thing that appears to be missing from every single Christmas advert on the tv and what is it ?
A free Hobnob for the first correct answer. (collection only)

My mother in law and 2 of my sister in laws are jehova witneses so that's a bonus. This will be my first christmas with no grandparents so this is going to be a weird one for me. Oh and other than 2 weeks off when I got married this will be the first time in 15yrs i've had time off other than the bank holidays at christmas. In my previous job (delivering newspapers to newsagents) we only got christmas eve night off, back in at 1am boxing day. This year because I worked my holiday as they had no cover they've given me from the 22nd till the 4th but no one else is allowed christmas off

Oh dear, I've not once regretted letting my mate buy my LC from me till now. Feeling a sudden bit of nostalgia and wish I could go out on it now with it wheeling like an animal everywhere. Oh well that'll pass as soon as I get my slabbitch on the road
